Customize a Micro-Fulfillment Solution for Your Business

To help you get a better idea of how a Dematic Micro-Fulfillment solution can work for your business, let us know a bit about your current business and fulfillment goals.

The questions below will help us understand your challenges and needs so we can provide you with a set of recommendations for hardware, software, and support.

What size space will you have available for a micro-fulfillment center?

Because they can fit into spaces as small as 10,000 sq. ft., Dematic Micro-Fulfillment solutions can be installed in the backroom of an actual retail store or in nearby urban fulfillment centers and dark stores — they require significantly less space than large, remote distribution centers.

How many orders per day do you plan to fulfill through the micro-fulfillment center?

The Dematic Micro-Fulfillment solution can deliver more than 10 items every minute to each picking station, enabling each station to pick up to 750 items per hour.

How many unique SKUs do you want to fulfill using automation?

The number of SKUs your system can handle will depend on the physical size of the SKUs and how much inventory you intend to keep in the system. For now, we just need a rough estimate. To give you some context, a three-aisle micro-fulfillment center handles 8,100 SKUs, additional SKUs would have to be picked manually.

What is a typical e-commerce order size for your business?

Because more than one item can be packed in each tote, a 60-item order will send an average of 48 totes to each picking station.

What level of warehouse automation does your business currently have?

Warehouse automation refers to systems that process inventory either automatically or by assisting workers. Warehouse automation can help increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

What type of e-commerce order management software (OMS) or inventory software do you currently use?

Inventory software helps manage and track items through various-sized sites or networks, from a single retail site to a networked supply-chain. Inventory software can support sales, warehouse management, and e-commerce.
